{What to Write About......}

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, and I was having trouble of thinking of something to write. :) So, I looked through some of my pictures that I put verses on and came across this one. I really love it because the white flower stands out from the rest of the picture. It's the same way that we, as Christians, should be standing out from the rest of the world. Although it may be difficult to stay on the narrow path, He is with us always, and will help us through all that we go through!

{Bethany: Sunrise Photo Shoot}

So Saturday morning, I took my friend Bethany out for a sunrise portrait shoot. :) It was so much fun (and absolutely FREEZING!!!! :), and the lighting was gorgeous and so was my model! :D

The sunrise coming up over the lake was amazing!!!!

I know these pictures are similar, but I couldn't decide on which one to put...so I just put both up!! :)

The other night I was at our house in Dover (Illinois not Delaware) (where our family is moving to in January), and I looked out the window and saw this!!!!!

The colors were so vibrant and beautiful!!! I ran out with my camera of course to try to capture it! Of course, it looked SO much more beautiful than these pictures can portray, but at least it gives you a little glimpse of the glorious beauty!

This song by Chris Tomlin comes to mind when I look at these pictures, "Holy is the Lord, GOD Almighty. The earth is FILLED with His glory."

This is another part of the sky as I looked over the cornfields. The purples were so pretty!!!

I hope your weekend is wonderful and restful!!!! I'm shooting a wedding tomorrow with a friend so I'm sure you'll see pictures in the next few weeks!!!!

Last week, I had the pleasure of taking my good friend Rachel's senior pictures. We had been trying to do the pictures over the summer, but she was extra busy, and then it was hard htis fall, because now she is in college, and has a VERY busy schedule!! :D

We finally were able to get together to take her pictures, and we had a very nice time! She is a beautiful girl and I am so glad that I was able to take her pictures!!!

{Cassia: 8 yrs old}

My sister Cassia just turned 8 on Monday, November 1st. She is a wonderful sister and she brings such pizazz into our family's life. :D Anyone who spends just a couple hours with her will know that she has 5 older brothers. ;) While being a girly girl, she also is quite the daredevil, especially with gymnastic type stunts. She has never taken gymnastics, yet she can do a perfect cartwheel, and she can even do a headstand and then let go and balance for a few seconds! She's quite a hoot! She also has the potential to be a pretty good dancer as well!! She's one talented little girl, that's for sure!!

In some of these pictures I took of her, I had to stop and look again, because she looks SO grown up!!! We straightened her hair for the shoot because she loves to have it straightened, but her hair is naturally really really curly! :D So, now that you know a little about her, take a look at the pictures!!!

She has been wanting to learn the piano for a long time, so I've been teaching her a little bit.

{Tehcnical Difficulties}

Ok, so my laptop that I've had for about a year, decided to give up on me. It has been through some rough experiences....so it was time for it to go. :( Sooooo....I don't have any pictures to put on this post, but I just wanted you to know that I haven't forgotten about my weekly posting. :) Don't worry though, I back up my computer onto an external hard drive, so thankfully I didn't lose all my files!! :D But...the problem is that I don't have a computer because I don't have the money to buy a new one yet. :( From now on, until I get a new computer, which could be a while, the pictures may be minimal on this blog. So since there are no pictures for this post, I shall post a hymn that is one of my favorites!!

Today, I had a photoshoot with one of my best friends. We grew up together, and it's been so wonderful to see her grow in beauty, and also in her walk with the Lord. Even though we live 15 minutes from each other, we barely get to see each other because of school and the normal busyness of life. Let me tell you, she is one smart girl and quite gorgeous too!!! Before the shoot today, she told me that she wasn't very photogenic (yeah right!).....um, after a few pictures I was like... GIRL! What are you talking about!!!! Hello there!! No, I have not dropped off the face of the planet, I've just been quite swamped lately. I attended a WONDERFUL photography school for three weeks in September, and since then have been busy with house projects. Oh, and there will be pictures soon of the progress...the kitchen looks amazing! I will be trying to post at least once a week, so please don't leave my blog forever!! :(

Today, my good friend and I got together for a photoshoot. She's a photographer too, and she's really good! We had so much fun, as we trounced around the town. I'll leave you with a sneak peek. :D Hopefully, I'll be able to put up the rest later! :)

Well folks, I'm trying do a better job blogging, but right now things are crazy at my house (as you know if you read the previous post). I'm also trying to create my photography website and redo my blog. Sounds like enough things to do, right?

Lately...scratch that...for quite a while now, I've wanted to turn this blog into more of my personal blog and have another blog devoted to my photography.

Besides wanting to have a blog devoted to just photography, I've also desired to improve my writing skills, and post things about daily life, maybe some projects I'm working on....similar to a journal that everyone can look at and maybe be blessed by something I wrote, or learn a lesson about life, etc.

It would be better to not have the two combined, just because I think it would be too much to have my photography business blog combined with my personal blog. (if ya know what I mean)

SOoooo....now that that's all out, how 'bout a picture. :D

This picture is from quite a while ago, because I have not picked up my camera in.....wow, it's been over a week!!!! I'd better go take pictures of something. :) Maybe some kiddos, or maybe some flowers, something in nature....

Personal: Kitchen remodeling

During the past few weeks our family has been working on fixing up the house. The kitchen has been the biggest project so far, and, as I said a few posts earlier, I said I would post a few pictures of the progress. :) So, here are some pictures of the kitchen being....well, I guess torn up isn't the best description, but we have torn out a couple layers of tile and are putting new flooring in soon.

This picture above is our eating area in the kitchen, and down below is the other side. It is a pretty big kitchen and we are a little sad to leave it. ;) Please exuse the mess!!

So basically in these past four to five weeks we have been working on this project, besides starting school last week, and many other things that are going on. I might as well tell you why we are fixing up the house. The third week of July approx. my parents really felt the Lord leading us to sell our house. It's been difficult lately in terms of finances because my dad recently started his own business, so they sensed the Lord telling them that it was time to move on. The story is too long to put on here, but basically since we decided to sell the house, the Lord has been confirming our decision and has been blessing my dad's business as well as in other ways. Although we're all a bit sad to leave friends here, we are all pretty excited for what the Lord has planned for our family in the coming years. In the next few posts I will update you on more details as to where we are moving (and of course more pictures), but for now this post is getting a little long. :)

I'm back!!! Finally!

I have been having a wonderful time on vacation and at the dance intensive and now I'm back to the busyness of life at home. :) While I was gone at dance camp, my mom calls me and tells me the shocking news, "We've decided to sell the house". !!!!!!!!! SOoo, our family is now moving to...well right now we aren't actually sure, that's in the Lord's hands, and are now busy fixing up some things in the house. I'll be posting pictures to keep ya'll updated. (that is if you care ;)

Our time in Maryland was wonderful, relaxing, and full of activities; our family reunion was also relaxing and we got to spend time with family we don't see too often; and then I went to Kansas for a two week dance intensive. It was at the school that my aunt and uncle teach at so I was able to spend two awesome weeks with my cousins. Those two weeks were absolutely wonderful, though I was utterly exhausted by the end of the second week. :P Now I'm back home with my family and we are busy cleaning, painting, decorating our house for selling. :)

For now here are some pictures of my little cousin who is one of the cutest little girls in the whole wide world!!!!!!! She is such a model and she is a natural in front of the camera! She LOVES to get her picture taken! :)

While I was on vacation, I met this lovely girl and at the end of the week, right before we left, we did a quick photo shoot. It was tons of fun and she is such a natural!! It was only about 20 minutes, but I think that they turned out pretty well!! So, I did some fun stuff on picnik.com and here's what I came up with. :D The other day I took the girls and a little neighbor friend to the park and of course I brought my camera!!! So as soon as I started taking pictures of Gabi drinking, they all wanted pictures. :) I can't believe it's summer!!! I am so excited about it, and we're getting ready to go on vacation tomorrow!!! Finally posting!!!! I'm really sorry I've stayed away so long!! :( These are some pictures I took a couple months ago at a farm. It was still winter then, but now it's beginning to look a lot like.....Spring!!!!!!!! I love snow and winter, but I love Spring as well, and I've been sooooo happy to see little buds sprouting and beginning to bloom!! Sooooo here are some wintery pictures!! :)

{My Mom}

Today was my mom's birthday!!! I am very thankful for my mom, and I love her very much. She has been such an encouragement in my life. God has been working in incredible ways in her life, and I see the wonderful progress. She has been a wonderful friend as well as my mom.

During these past two years, since my dad started his own business, it has been incredible to see the way she and my dad have trusted God when we might not even know where the next meal is coming from!! It has been inspiring to see her grow deeper in her relationship with the Lord these past few years as well. She loves to study the Word of God. To see that in her, encourages me to be more diligent about being in the Word of God, and studying it from cover to cover.

We have had conversations over the past few years (more than I can count) where I will be completely discouraged, and she will talk it through with me, and reminds me that God never will give up on us. Don't look back and worry about all the things you've done wrong (not that we should ignore the fact that we have sinned), but to pray (and if need be, repent) and ask the
Lord for mercy and forgiveness, and then get right back up and lean on Him!!!!! The thing that I am most thankful for, is her encouraging us kids to learn to love the scriptures, and to STUDY, not just briefly skim over a few verses every morning, but to study the Word of God, so that we will be able to discern right from wrong.

The book of Proverbs is one of my favorite books of the Bible, and there are underlined verses everywhere!! There is so much wisdom hidden in this wonderful book, and I realize how sinful and wretched I really am! This verse in Proverbs 5:21, has been a big help in realizing that I am not in control of my life. GOD IS!!!!

Sorry if these pictures aren't very clear!! I hope you can still make out what the verses are. This one, I believe, is Isaiah 40:7.

This picture is of my foot. ;) Trust me, I had to get in a very awkward position to capture this shot. ;)

She has also encouraged me in my pursuit of dance, and has been an enormous help with my passion for photography as well.

So, I'm finally posting something!!!! This is one of my younger brothers, Matt. He is really awesome and is an AMAAAAAAAZING artist!!!!! He would like to be a graphic designer, and he is working on designing my photography website!!! He is 15!!! Wow, I can't believe that he'll be sixteen in a few months! He is slowly passing me up in height, and is actually able to wrestle Phil without completely being demolished! ;P and he almost can beat me in an arm wrestle now too! ;) Ok, anyways....he is an amazingly talented artist and has his own business with his best friend Josh. I think he has a blog so when I find out the address, I'll have to tell you.

Isn't he such a good lookin' guy? :) He's the quiet type like me, and is a Civil War buff, does Martial arts, likes things that have to do with explosions :P, etc. ALL boy! Oh, and he also enjoys eating!! ;)

Last summer we went to a friend's wedding, and of course I brought my camera!! :) These are just a few that I took. She's from a family of nine kids, and we've known them since I was born. They are a wonderful family!!!

Here are most of the bridesmaids. All of them are her sisters, except for the girl third from the left (although, I guess now she is her sister-in-law) :)

Then there are two more bridesmaids further to the right and one of them is her sister, and the other is her sister-in-law. Aren't they all such a gorgeous bunch!!!!! The girl on the far left is one of my best friends, and she is so gorgeous, and just a fun person to be around!

The other day, I decided to count how many outfits bitty bumpkins (one of my nicknames for Gabi) would change into before lunch. She only changed two times, which I was very surprised about. Usually we will walk by her one minute, and then the next time we see her she's in a different outfit!! My mom said I used to do that so maybe that's where she got it from. ;) Or maybe it's just that little girls like to play dress-up.

So here's bugaboo (another of my many nicknames for her) in the outfit that I gave her to put on, at the start of the day.

I don't know what it is about this picture, but I really like it.

Don't worry!!!! We do not promote violence at our house!! Honest! We have five boys around the house so there are plenty of nerf guns lying around. ;-) I guess she gets it from them. There are a couple more, but since she was pointing the gun straight at the camera, I figured, I'd better not risk it.

You know, one would think that you should wear winter clothing in the winter, but this little person wears all sorts of combinations of things, and she doesn't seem to get cold at all!!! At least now she actually wears clothing!!!! When she was really little, she would be running around in a diaper when it was below freezing outside.

Oh, and don't worry. We make sure that she is properly dressed before we go anywhere or if we are having guests!!!! ;-)

An Inspirational Quote

This week has been pretty busy so I haven't had much time for posting. Here is an inspirational quote I found on the back of a magazine, which I thought was very good advice, so I cut it out and taped it up on my wall. :) This is definitely a good quote for me, because I need to learn how to use my time more wisely than I have been in the past. I tend to be a daydreamer and I have a brain full of ideas, which doesn't help me when I need to focus on certain subjects. ;)

This also reminds me of Ecclesiastes 3 where it says that there is a time for everything under the sun. There are specific times for doing various things, but you need to make sure that you are doing them at the right time. So, when it's time to study, write a paper, or work, that's no time to be staring into space, or thinking about putting a new post on my blog, etc.

Ok, well I'd bettter get going!!! Speaking of doing things at the right times!!! ;) Just joking, I really am using my time wisely at this moment. Don't worry!! Hopefully, I'll have more pictures to post soon. Nobody really wants to do photoshoots when it's below freezing! Although.....I do have a few pictures from a couple weeks ago, when I went for a walk in the early morning. (Maybe I'll post them in a few days) MMmmmm, I just LOVE early morning light. It's deliciously....hmm...I can't think of a word to describe it!!!! Let's see, how about, well I guess I can only think of DELICIOUS. If any of you have a word that you have to describe early morning sunlight, please share!! I seem to be lacking in my vocabulary at the moment.

{Valentines Day}

Sooooooo, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aaaaand, just because, here's a picture of your's truly. ;-) It's a little scary looking, but hey! This morning, I bundled up and went to try to take some pictures of the sunrise (which by the way did NOT turn out, way too many trees), so here is a picture of me all bundled up. In my brother's sweatshirt, and my mom's hat. :P

So, I tried sprinkling hearts all over the piano and it sort of worked, but some of the hearts went down in between the keys. :( I sure hope they don't cause too much damage!

Stephen, and Cassia had made some really cute valentines for a couple of their neighborhood pals, and when they gave them out they were so excited. I was pretty disappointed to find out that the boys that they gave them to, were laughing at them, and saying "who cares about valentines"!!!!!! They had been so excited about it, and were being very thoughtful and then were made fun of. Well, I certainly think that valentines do matter, because they show that someone cares about you, especially homemade valentines!!!! I think I'm going to make them some cookies or go get them a special treat to make up for what happened! :)

Seek Ye First

Recently, I was reminded of this verse in Matthew. "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you". Lately I have been caught up in the whirlwind of trying to finish everything up before I graduate this year, and it has been discouraging at certain points, as I have been behind in a few subjects.

As I read this verse, I realized that God is more interested in me seeking Him and being caught up in the things of Him, than He is in me learning about logarithms or knowing what "equilibrium position" or "uniform circular motion" are. Not that these things aren't important, but God calls us to seek Him before everything else.

See, I'm not a math and science type person, so those subjects don't come very easy for me, but I believe it is important to have that knowledge. I'd much rather be strengthening my skills in piano, learning the guitar, broadening my cooking abilities, creating things, and I could go on forever. However, God puts things in our lives so that we will grow in wisdom, and learn to depend on Him in all circumstances. As we seek Him, we will know more and more about what He wants for our lives, which will then help us to stay focused on what He has us doing right here and now.

My First Pictures

These pictures are the first ones that I took with my first camera, my Nikon D40. My mom and I had gone to the store and bought the camera earlier that day. As soon as I got home, I hurried to find the little ones find matching clothing and then we went in the backyard and took lots of pictures. :)

On Sunday, I did a photo shoot with a lovely young lady, and had a wonderful time shooting pictures of her. She is very comfortable in front of the camera, and is extremely photogenic. We went to two different locations, and though it was FREEZING cold outside we hopped outside for a second to grab some outdoor shots. For it being about 15 degrees out, she did a wonderful job of not looking cold!! :)
She is recording her first album, and I am very excited for her!!! I was very honored to photograph pictures for her album cover, and I know that she is an excellent singer, and will do very well.

The Beauty of God's Creation!!!!

Here are some pictures that I took last summer at a really lovely place called Cantigny. It is beautiful and I just went crazy, as you can see, and took lots of pictures. Besides portraiture, nature photography is probably my next favorite. God's creation is marvelous, and I can't help but photograph it. Sometimes it's easy to forget how significant God's creation really is, but when you take a moment to slow down from the business of life, relax, and look around you, there is so much that declares the beauty and creativity of the Lord. Our God is so incredible that I can't even begin to explain!!!

Hehehe, sorry for so many waterfall pics. I tried to pick my favorite, but in the end decided to put them all up. :) Waterfalls are so amazingly beautiful. They remind me of God's unending, abundant, and overflowing love for us.

For any of you who do not know this, I absolutely love pathway pictures!!!!!!!

Though this picture below is not quite in focus where I had intended it to be, I love how this turned out.

The other day I was browsing on a few photography blogs, when I came across a picture similar to this one. I loved it so of course I wanted to try and imitate the idea. We are just about to go pick up Phil from the airport!!! I am reeeeaallly happy to have him home!! We've all missed him so much and are very excited to hear how his time went. When he was there we had no way of contacting him, so we were praying for them constantly!!

I am very glad to have my silly brother home! :D

Dave's Senior Pictures

Here are some of the best ones from Dave's senior shoot. We had an awesome time and I loved how the pictures turned out!! I think they really enjoyed them as well. An important thing about portraiture is to make sure and capture the person's personality in their pictures. Not to brag or anything, but I think I did a pretty good job of capturing his personality through these images. It does help when you know your subject though. ;-)
Anyways, Dave is my brother Phil's best friend, and is the rhythm guitarist for his band. Our two families have known each other since our parents were in college so our families are pretty close, especially Phil and Dave. It was a privilege to take these and I hope y'all enjoy looking at them. :D

New Camera!!!!!

Soooooo....I just ordered a Nikon D90 today!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo excited and very happy!!!! When it comes, I'll be sure to take a picture of it, so you know what it looks like, ok! ;-) Right now I have a Nikon D60 and a D40. I'm probably going to sell the D40 to my brothers because it's a little damaged. It works great, but there is a little scratch inside the camera so when I take a picture a little speck shows up on each picture. It's easy to remove on photoshop, but it wouldn't sell very well to anyone else because of it, and I know my brothers will enjoy it. :) Well, that's all so hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend!!!

A couple of weeks ago on our way to church, we passed by a refinery type place. As we went by, my little sister Cassia saw the billows of smoke and steam that was coming out ot the tall smoke stacks and exclaimed, "Oh! So that's how they make clouds!!". :D
I thought that was pretty funny!! We quickly explained to her how clouds are really made, so no worries. :p

I took these two pictures of Cassia last summer.

The younger boys have been working on some puzzles lately. This one is a Thomas Kinkade one that is 1,000 pieces. It is really pretty!

On Sunday, I attempted to make some chocolate cookies. I had never made them before, but they ended up turning out pretty well. All the cookies I made that night were gone before the night was over. :)

Leftover Candy Canes from Christmas that have been slowly and mysteriously disappearing. Hmmmm.....:P

My brother Phil, along with his friend Jack, left for Africa this morning so please pray that they will get there safely. They are going to Zimbabwe to help build an orphanage, and will be there for 2 weeks. I am very excited for him and I hope that he can be a blessing while he is there.

Long Time no...blogging {part one} Christmas

Well, I've been pretty lazy with blogging, so here are a few pictures from the Christmas season. We had a lovely time and both pairs of grandparents came. Sorry, there are not a whole lot of pictures of us, but I was too busy spending time with my wonderful grandparents. :)

I know this is an odd angle, but I was trying to get a picture of the snow that was falling. On the camera it didn't look like I had captured the snow falling, but when it was uploaded I jumped for joy!! :P

This is my backyard!!! Isn't the snow lovely?!?!

There is a path called the "Prairie Path" and it used to be a railroad. Now it is a beautiful path that is well traveled on by bikers, runners, people walking, and in the winter, some cross country skiing even. Unfortunately it is gravel so you can't rollerblade, but it is still a lovely place.

Here's our beautiful tree, and yes it is an authentic tree. It reached the ceiling and we even had to cut off the top of it because it was too tall.

My Awesome Bro Jon!!!

This is Jon. He is pretty much amazing!! I am so glad he is my brother, and although this is really late, this is sort of a post for his birthday. He turned 14 on Nov. 15th!!! I can't believe it! He is a really outgoing, friendly guy. He has quite a good sense of humor and is a stunt man. His nickname in the past, has been "Wipe out". I don't have very much time to write, but I just wanted to say that I love this guy, and I am praying that he follows Jesus all his life and makes Christ the center of his life. One more quick thing, Jon has been worried because Matt, the 15 yr old, grew like 5 inches this year and Jon is hoping that he will grow because Tim, who is younger than him, is the same height!! Jon, don't you worry, Phil is 6 ft, and Matt is catching up really fast, and I know you will grow too!!! Just wait!!

Anna's Birthday Yesterday

Ok, I hope you don't think these pictures are weird. I just wanted to get a picture of her gravestone, because it is really pretty. I love the line that is on the bottom. It is from one of Fanny Crosby's hymns, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". Anna truly is safe in the arms of Jesus, and I know that someday I'll see her again. I was able to see her when she was a couple days old, and I was only 7 yrs old. She only lived for about 16 days. I don't really remember much about how I felt about it, but my mom said that she had to pick me up from ballet class because I was crying. I always wonder what it would be like to have a sister closer in age. She would be 11 yrs old yesterday!! Wow!

I wanted to get some pictures of the beautiful flowers. We go to her grave every year around her birthday and we always bring flowers so each one of us can put one on.

When we were leaving my dad felt the Lord telling him to go pray with these people who'd obviously lost their babies recently, because of where the gravstones were placed. My mom and dad were able to talk to them (there is a lady behind my dad) and they prayed with them. The guy and lady weren't related and they each had lost a little baby boy. It was so neat to see them praying together. Just in case you don't know my parents, my dad is on the far left, and my mom is right next to him with the puffy coat. The lady even showed my mom and dad the picture of her little boy, he lived for about nine days, and the man's baby lived for about 15 days.

This is my little sister Cassia. She turned 7 on Sunday Nov. 1st and she was soooo excited! When we got to church she went around telling everyone that "it was her birthday"!!! She is a bunch of fun and has a very outgoing personality (the opposite of me) :). She is a lot like my mom in that they both love talking and are very outgoing. She has a lovely singing voice as well, and during all hours of the day you'll hear a voice bursting into song. My mom says she has a broadway voice.
She is in children's choir and hopefully she will be in dance class again this year. Sometimes when there is music on in the kitchen, and I'm dancing, she'll join me. : ) She is a beautiful dancer as well. (even though she doesn't have any idea what she is doing) : ) She is a wonderful sister and God gave her to our family and she is a blessing. Of course, we aren't all perfect so we do have our moments, but for the most part she is a very sweet, and caring little girl. I love you Cassia!!!

Photography Business!!

SOooo. I finally came up with a name for my photography business. It is "Danielle Trista Photography". The Trista sounds like "treestu", just in case you were wondering. Most people when they see it they say, " trysta"? The "i", when they pronounce it, sounds like a the "i" in snicker. Anywho.......my brother and I are working on my new website, so in a couple of months I will put a link so you can view it. : ) I will also have a new blog which will be linked to my website. Oh i'm sooo excited!! Okay gotta go to bed now!!

The Wilson Kiddos

A few days ago I was able to do a photo shoot with our very good friends. I am still working on editing them, but here are a few of their kids. Aren't they sooo cute!! They were all so well behaved and their mom was a big help in getting them to smile. : ) She knew exactly what to do or say to get them to give me their adorable smiles. When I did shots of the whole family two of my younger brothers were there and did a fantastic job. I'll post some more when I get the chance. I have been soo busy the past couple of months, so that is the reason for lack of posting. I'm really sorry. : (

I'm Back!!

Well, I'm back from Colorado! I was taking a photography training course, and here are some of the pictures from that beautiful state. The first pictures are from when we were working on flash photography. It was really neat to be able to get the lighting just how we wanted it and to arrange our subjects in a unique way. I learned so much while I was there and I am hoping to use the skills that I learned very soon. In fact I already have a few jobs lined up. I will post some portraits later.

Birthdays!!!

On September 5th we had three birthdays in our house. My birthday, Tim's birthday, and Gabi's. Tim turned 12, Gabi turned 3, and I turned 18. I can't believe I'm really that old. I do not feel like an adult. For our celebration, we decided to go to the Warren Dunes. We are going back soon, because we all had a blast! Here are some pictures of our adventure to the dunes.

For some odd reason the boys left their shirts on. I think they thought it was too cold. Usually they have flung off their shirts and are diving, jumping, and anything else that shouts BOY. They did go up the dunes quite a bit and they played some sort of war game, of course. I got a few pictures of them playing their game and they are further down. I'll have to do another post because there are some more pictures.

This girlie climbed up the entire dune. Of course I held her hand to keep her from falling over, but she did it! I was so proud of her.

Apparently, Stephen was Jesus in their game. He healed the guys who got hurt or died. : )

We had an extra boy with us. Tim invited his friend Ransom, to come with. He is such a cutie! All the boys have so much fun hanging out with Ransom.

Today we went to Herick Lake Forest Preserve, and my mom had us bring our sketchbooks so we could draw wildflowers and other stuff. Some of us weren't too thrilled, but everyone drew something. :) She also brought some wildflower books so we'd be able to see what each plant was.

Sorry. I have been super busy this month and have been out of town. I will post some more pictures as soon as I have sorted them out. I seriosly have approx. 2000 pictures from just the month of July. These pictures were taken in Kansas. We went to the pool on Friday July 17th and the next day we went to the zoo. We had been at the pool for 5 hours so we were tired and some of us were sunburnt. The picture of us with our grandma and grandpa is right before going to the zoo. We were having a wonderful time, though a few badly needed naps.

Tea Anyone?

Today, Cassia, Gabi, and I had a tea party. I surprised the girls with it all set up in the back yard. They were so excited. Cassia really likes tea parties and dressing up. I dressed up too and had such a fun time. Phil, being the wonderful younger brother that he is, (though he looks like my older instead of younger brother) put on his suit and served the muffins. The girls were delighted and they had a wonderful time.

We had to use natural sugar since we ran out of white sugar.

Guess she didn't like what she was bein' served! (actually, she was spitting out a cherry pit)

I am so glad I was able to spend this time with Cassia and Gabi because they won't always be this young. Spending this time with them is so important because I want them to know I love them and because I know they love it. Children can remember so many things, and I want them to have good memories of me as their older sister. I want them to remember me spending time with them doing things they love to do, and loving them. Unfortunately, I have not always done a good job of this, but I am working on strengthening my relationships with my younger siblings. God has brought me a long way, and I still have plenty of room to grow. As the oldest, I have the greatest responsibility. My actions are being observed by seven other young people in my home. They are watching, seeing how I interact with my parents, how I speak towards the other siblings, and so much more. Prayer is so important to whatever you are doing. I have had to pray constantly and ask for God's help because, as you all know, your family is the hardest to get along with because you are with them throughout the entire day, every day throughout the year. (at least those of us who are homeschooled) My desire is to live a life that is worthy of the Gospel of Christ in front of my family, and all who I come into contact with, so that I can be a light in the darkness of this world and to be a godly example to my siblings. I want them to live as Christ wants them to because I love them, and as the oldest child in our family I can have a large influence on them.

Muddy Kiddos

After a while a few neighbor kids came to join in the fun and pretty soon the yard became a muddy mess. It was hilarious to watch the kids smothering each other with mud and sliding down the hill like penguins.I know its kinda gross, but they were having a wonderful time and they weren't being rough. Hopefully the yard will be restored to its normal looks. My mom didn't have a problem with them getting muddy thankfully, so it was alright.

Sprinkler Fun

Our cousins were over this past weekend and it has been super hot lately so out came the sprinkler. They had a blast. I love what the kids do as they run through. I love their expressions! Some of them are pretty funny.
